When a numbers game turns deadly …..
Lauren Chapman stared down at the lifeless figure slumped across the desk. Too shocked to move until she saw the little brooch lying on the floor. It belonged to her mother.
But her mother had died two years earlier.
So what was it doing at the scene of a violent crime? As Lauren digs deeper, she finds the brooch has links to a group calling themselves The Stags. Started by her mother, it was wound up after her death.
Or was it? Who – or what – were The Stags? And why was recently arrived Conor Maguire – who Lauren describes as ‘the hottest man to be seen on Stoneford High Street since they took the life size cut out of Benedict Cumberbatch out of the newsagents window’ so interested in them?
On the one hand Lauren feels a strong pull of attraction to Conor. On the other, she wonders what a fancy London-trained accountant is doing working for a one man practice in a small Somerset town.
Lauren has no trouble balancing VAT returns but something about Conor Maguire – and his interest in The Stags – doesn’t add up.
Brought to Account has all the usual ingredients of a Paula Williams mystery. A small town, a cast of believable and endearing characters and a mystery that’s spiked with humour and sprinkled with romance.

Escape to Dorset
Storm Chaser
On a deserted cliff top, the dog waits for a man and a boat that have vanished without trace.
Caitlin Mulryan can only watch in horror as the faster boat quickly catches up with Storm Chaser. As the two boats collide there’s a massive explosion. But the wreckage of only one boat (and one body) is recovered. Where is her brother Liam? And where is Storm Chaser?
The tragedy shakes the small close-knit community of Stargate Bay. After a while the search for Liam and Storm Chaser is scaled down but Joe Mulryan will never accept that his son, Liam died in the crash. Like the dog, he never stops looking but scours the coastline every day for traces of Storm Chaser.
But Caitlin lost more than her brother in the crash.
Set on Dorset’s stunning Jurassic coast, this is a story of family feuds, long held grudges and secrets that finally have to be told.
Still to come …..
